It has been a while since I posted anything on here. There are a variety of reasons for this, none of them I wish to talk about here.
I really do intend to be a little better at posting and I have a variety of topics I wish to write about. I have not so much to say about contemporary events I am afraid. I am more into history and philosophy. Some would say that represents a distancing from the nitty gritty of life. That may be true.
I identify a bit with the above text. NOT because I think that I am smart, by no means no. But I certainly think too much. My attitude can aften be seen as cynical or pessimistic - I prefer realistic. I certainly do not see things the way so many people I know see things. I am not asocial, but I prefer contact with a very small group of people I know well, and have no problem being alone.
And I am very clear that the only thing I am certain of is that I know very, very little.
Anyway - this year being the centenary of the outbreak of World War One I intend to begin posting a few pieces about that war. What particularly annoys me is how the 'Blackadder view' of WW1 has become widely accepted as 'the truth'. As much as I admire the whole 'Blackadder' series and the humour therein this view of WW1 is complete and utter balderdash.
I will return with more on this later.
